Downloading software from any old site is a big security risk, though. So as well as giving you links to specific web sites for specific programs, we've also put together a list of the best of the best general download sites that should be safe to download from. Please note that you should still scan any and all files you download with an up to date virus checker, and always backup your system before you install anything - installing new applications, no matter where you get them from, can sometimes cause problems and it is best to be prepared.
