The Connect 247 ISDN Premium Static IP package is intended for heavy business Internet users requiring unmetered ISDN Internet access at 128Kbits/sec with a fixed IP address.

The Connect 247 ISDN Premium Static IP service is essentially identical to our normal ISDN Premium service, offering Internet access at up to 128Kbits/sec at any time of the day, seven days a week, without incurring call charges. This is because you connect to the Internet using an 0808 number which is just like an 0800 number in that it is free to call - you won't see any charges for dialling it on your telephone bill.

However, the two packages differ in one important way: As its name suggests, the ISDN Premium - Static IP account benefits from a fixed IP address which you will be allocated automatically when you sign up for the service. This can be used when connecting to a VPN or to allow access through a firewall, or in order to run a local mailserver or fileserver.

In line with the fact that it is a premium product intended for heavy Internet users, this service allows you a very generous maximum usage limit of 200 hours per month even when connected at 128Kbits/sec (or a massive 400 hours when connected at 64k only). There is also a very low contention ratio of just 7:1, which means that as a rule of thumb you should not experience contention-related connection failures very often when connecting to the Internet. A two hour session cutoff time applies to this and all our other regular Unmetered packages, which means that the connection will automatically be dropped if you are online for 2 hours in one go, but you will be able to re-connect afterwards as normal.
