Founded in 2001, Cymru 1 is a family owned and run telecommunications business based in Porthmadog, North Wales. "Cymru" is the Welsh word for "Wales".

At its launch, the company provided low cost dial-up Internet access, web site design, domain name registration and web site hosting services to customers mainly in Wales, but has since extended its field of operations and now supplies its services to many thousands of customers throughout the UK.

The company's range of product offerings has also expended to include Broadband internet access, CPS (carrier pre-select) based low cost calls for business customers and non-geographic number services. A wide range of VoIP services is set to be launched in 2006.

The company's Director and CTO is Faris Raouf, a veteran IT journalist who has worked as a senior editor, contributor or columnist for well-known magazines such as PC Direct, PC Magazine, IT Week, PC Advisor, PC Explorer, PC Utilities, Linux Magazine and Short Wave Magazine. As a result, he has unparalleled knowledge of the industry and its movers and shakers.

Faris has appeared numerous times on radio and television both in Wales and worldwide.
